NVSA Newsletter July 2004
We’ll
start this month with a re-cap of our last Newsletter:
Ron Durham has reminded us all that to shoot our NVSA matches you must be a member of IDPA. Please fill out an application (http://www.idpa.com/membership/application.pdf) and send in your dues.
We also stated that we were going use the IDPA Divisions at our matches. It will take a litle longer than we anticipated to include Divisions in our match scoring because we haven’t yet sorted out the Classifications. For the present, we will continue scoring the matches as we have been. We ask the Match Directors to design the stages with the different magazine capacities in mind.
Ok, the most important reminder. We are going to follow IDPA’s guidelines for classifying our shooters. Below is how this will take place, reprinted from the last newsletter. Please bring your membership card and classification card to the match.
We will also change the way we rank or classify our shooters. In the past at the club level, new shooters have started in the “Unclassified” group. Then based on their scores they would be moved up, as time went on and they improved they would be moved up further. This kept the competition a little closer. We recently received some clarification on how the classification of shooters was to take place even at the club level. There are only Two (2) ways to receive your classification, first is to shoot the 90 round classifier that can be found in the rulebook or on the web site. The second is to choose your classification, however if you have shot the “Official” classifier you may only shoot your classification or HIGHER. Beginning at the June match when you sign in we will handle your classification as follows:
If you would
like to shoot the classifier after the match on Sunday, send me an email.
brian@hallsharley.com.
Let’s give a BIG Thank You to Deanna Sykes and Ed Vernon for volunteering to take over the score keeping!
Don’t forget to buy your raffle tickets for the Springfield Loaded 1911. They are $10.00 and are available at each match to NVSA members only. The drawing will be at our September match.
Remember,
bring your IDPA cards to the match!
See you Sunday, Brian
